Early May 2024 marked a collaboration of community focused organizations. Rotary International's mission is "Service Above Self", and so when two local Rotary Clubs were approached to support the Hope Alliance Moab clinic, they jumped at the chance to provide both time and treasure to the cause. Sunrise Rotary Club of Park City and the Holladay Utah Rotary Club both applied for and were rewarded grant funds to support Hope Alliance in Moab. Struck by the power of the mission, members of both clubs took it upon themselves to go above and beyond, and travel to Moab to provide logistical support for three days of clinics.
Their service changed lives - those of the patients they served, and their own. In three days Hope Alliance was able to diagnose and treat close to 100 patients. From children as young as five years old to patients in their 70's and beyond, volunteers watched as patients were given the gift of good vision. Some patients professed hope for their professional aspirations thanks to new glasses, others gratitude for the diagnosis of cataracts. Every single one told volunteers personal stories about their vision struggles and how Hope Alliance could provide relief.
Volunteers and patients ended
each day changed. All of us at Hope Alliance are grateful for the collaboration with Sunrise and Holladay Rotaries, and we are happy to call each and every volunteer a new friend.
