Guatemala suffers from higher infant and maternal mortality rates than any other country in Latin America and the Caribbean except Haiti. Lack of healthcare access for many women in the rural highlands of Guatemala is of prevalent concern as are skilled birth attendants or certified nurse midwives. In collaboration with our partnering organization Fundación Raxche and the Ministry of Health in the district of Izabal, a curriculum will be to train these providers clean birth skills. |
